Troubleshooting GPS and MapIt

If your GPS device does not appear to be working with MapIt, first you should make sure any drivers that are associated with the GPS tool have been installed. If the driver is installed, or if you are not sure if the driver is installed, and it is still not working, there is a GPS scan driver that you may run to see if your computer is detecting the GPS device which is plugged in. Click Here to download the application to run a GPS scan. Choose to "Scan Com Port" and see if any of the ports are able to locate the GPS device. If the application was able to locate the GPS device on one of the ports, then choose to "Start GPS" and click over to the "GPS Info" tab and verify that the status shows something like "Fixed" or "Active". This will let us know if the GPS is working correctly and if the correct drivers are installed for the GPS tool. If when you scan it locates the port that the GPS device is plugged into, then consider the following:

Usually if more than one application is utilizing the GPS system, such as Microsoft Streets and Trips or a CAD system, OR if more than one GPS system is being used in the vehicle, TraCS Florida may get "confused". Simply Contact Us to discuss troubleshooting options. Future releases of MapIt will include fixes for these scenarios.

CTRE Incident Location Tool
